Elton John and band performed in Leicester on June 11, 2016

Elton fans were in awe of their hero on June 11, 2016 as he brought big tunes and a little bit of drama to the Fischer County Ground.
Thousands of people filled every inch of the Leicestershire County Cricket Club home as the 69-year-old put on a flawless and energetic performance. He mixed the classics, such as Rocket Man, with songs from his new album as the crowd danced and sang and swayed in time to the music.
But Elton, dressed in a black suit with a large sequin red rose on the back, got the most attention when he threatened to walk off the stage if security guards didn't stop ordering people to sit down.
Fan Noreen Gallagher, 32, from Clarendon Park, said: "It was funny, but I thought he might actually do it at one point. I'm glad he didn't - he was amazing. I could have stayed there listening to him all night."
The mild, but constant, drizzle was forgotten about once the global superstar started playing. Lifelong Elton fan Vivien Waterfield, 52, from Knighton, said she was going straight home after the gig to listen to her Elton John vinyls. "I've been listening to him since I was a teenager and I think he's great, she said. "The concert was nice because you can see he was enjoying himself too."
One unfortunate theme of the night was queuing. People waited for up to 45 minutes to get to the bar and the toilets. "I waited for absolutely ages," said Morris Butcher, 65, from Thurmaston. "And when I got to get served they'd run out of beer." People began to swap lager for prosseco to cut down the queuing time.
Gary McCarthy, who had brought his mobile prosecco bar - named Ranieri in honour of the Leicester City manager, Claudio - to the ground had gone through almost 300 bottles (2,000 glasses). But it didn't take the shine off the evening for everyone. "That was better than Kasabian," said Steve Leftly, 45, from Syston.
