It says something for the legal boys ...

... but nothing much for us: Newlywed Elton John refused to sign a pre-nuptial agreement with David Furnish before their marriage on December 21, 2005.
Elton — worth an estimated £185million — was urged by pals and professional advisers to get a contract drawn up. But he told his inner circle he was against any document safeguarding his wealth in the event of a split.
Elton said: “The whole idea of this ceremony is to show our total commitment and trust for one another. If I had asked David to sign a pre-nup I would have destroyed part of that faith we have in one another. I just feel that a little something between us would have been lost.”
Elton made the defiant stand before exchanging vows on December 21, 2005 on the first day of same-sex civil partnerships in England and Wales. The pair wore matching black morning suits with grey trousers. They also sported matching £55,000 double-width platinum and diamond rings, which they later swapped and placed on each others’ fingers during the 20-minute service.
Sir Elton also wore a diamond watch, diamond stud and silver brooch — altogether costing another £195,000.
