Elton John snubs TV wedding
Monday, November 28 2005 |
Elton John has turned down a £6 million offer by a TV company to film his wedding - because he wants to say his vows in private.
Elton and David Furnish were offered the huge sum for exclusive rights to their December 21, 2005 nuptials. American TV bosses had even offered to donate the money to Elton's Aids Foundation charity, but the star refused.
Elton revealed: "Our relationship isn't up for grabs. Our love is sacred to us. It doesn't come with a price tag." Elton also claimed he wanted his big day to be more like Madonna and Guy Ritchie's nuptials - which were kept under wraps - than glamour girl Jordon and Peter Andre who published their "awful" wedding photos.
Elton said: "Jordan and Peter Andre's were the most fabulously, spectacularly awful wedding photographs ever. Madonna got it spot on."
Elton, who has been with Furnish for 11 years, added to gay magazine Attitude: "The ceremony will be his parents and my parents and the two of us. The day will be very low-key and we'll take our parents to lunch afterwards."
He also admitted Sharon Osbourne, Liz Hurley and Victoria Beckham had been asked to be bridesmaids.
